We begin worship on Sunday with an 8:00 am service without music. At 10:00 am is a service with choir, hymns and other music. Both services are centered on the Holy Eucharist. We appreciate excellent, focused sermons based on the scripture readings and good theological grounding, with a contemporary message and examples for our everyday lives. The 7:00 pm Taizé service is filled with music, intentional silence, prayers and God's love.
There is a nursery available at 9am for children through age five, staffed by a paid worker. We also welcome the energy of children of any age and their joyful noise in our services. Each service is also followed by a coffee hour.
School chapel services are held on Monday mornings during the school year. Additionally, appropriate services are held on special days such as Christmas, Easter, Epiphany, Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Holy Saturday, as well as an annual blessing of animals and the Christmas Pageant.
We include music as an integral part of our 10am service. St. John’s is fortunate to have a talented musician and teacher, Jim Kreger, as our Organist and Choirmaster. The St. John’s Choir is comprised of faithful and dedicated singers who lead us in worship. We also have a handbell choir with full 3 octaves of handbells.
